On this walking tour you’ll get a profound introduction of 400 years of Jewish culture in Amsterdam in the city's former Jewish district.

You’ll visit the Waterlooplein Flea market, the Jewish side of the Rembrandt house, the Dokworker monument, Baruch 'd Espinoza and you’ll get to visit the Portuguese Synagogue whilst your guide re-lives history for you. This synagogue was once the largest in the world, you’ll also visit the Hollandsche Schouwburg – the Nazi detention centre and the Jewish Historical Museum inside the former German synagogue.

This greener and more tranquil part of the city centre holds a dark chapter in the history of the city. There’s no other city in Europe that experienced so many Jews from their community be deported to Nazi concentration camps. On this tour we explain how this happened and how we deal and live with this chapter from history today.
